Biography (See Will photo on the Gallery Page of this web site)
Simply stated, my goal is to love God daily with all that I am and in view of all I was created to be. I desire to love God the way He already loves me!
I am the son of Gary and Jean Stacken and was born in Brooklyn Park, MN in 1982. We moved to the Brainerd Lakes area in 1991 and this became one of the places that I still call home. I grew up enjoying the lakes and forests of North Minnesota. In 1999 I began to make to truly own my faith and sought to know who Jesus truly was. I was blessed to be able to build-off the foundation laid by my parents in my life already. In 2001, upon graduating from Brainerd High School; I began studying at Northwestern College in St Paul. It was during this season of my life that many different passions came to the surface like traveling, athletics, working with young people and understanding Godís word became sources of joy in my life.
In 2004 I graduated from Northwestern College with my bachelors in Youth Ministry and a minor in Bible. That same summer I worked long-hours to pay off my student loans and raised funds for my 2nd trip to Europe for a 6-month study program with Youth with a Mission in Amsterdam. I received from YWAM practical information in missions work to complete much of the theory I had received form NWC.
In 2005 began my full-time work with YWAM. I worked with chemical/behavioral addicts, organized weekly church service, hosted outreach teams, lead evangelism teams, and did building maintenance. In 2006 I began working with another division of YWAM called Discipleship Training Schools. Our goal is to aid believers in growing a Godly character and helping them develop their own gifts and talents. We do this through 3-months of lectures, small-groups and personal mentorship. Then we go abroad for 3-months of partnering with long-term ministries and missionaries to practically work out all that God is doing in them and through them!
Itís a blessing to be serving here in Amsterdam for so many years. I love what I do and I am blessed to have a strong connection and partnership with the vision of The Journey Church. I look forward to connecting more in the years to come!
